Ware Malcomb Announces Construction Is Complete on Henkel North American Consumer Goods Headquarters in Stamford, CT
Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced construction is complete on the new North American consumer goods headquarters for Henkel. Located at 200 Elm Street in downtown Stamford, the new space accommodates 425 employees from Henkel’s Beauty Care and Laundry and Home Care businesses, while allowing ample room for growth. Ware Malcomb provided interior architecture & design, lab planning and branding services for the project.
Founded in 1876, Henkel is a global manufacturer and marketer of well-known brands including Persil®, Purex®, and all® detergents, Snuggle® fabric softeners, Dial® soaps, Right Guard® antiperspirants, Schwarzkopf® hair care, and göt2b® hair styling products. The new facility integrates Henkel’s previous locations into one, with the largest numbers of employees being from the company’s former consumer goods headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, and from Wilton, Conn.-based The Sun Products Corporation, which Henkel acquired in 2016. The new facility allowed for seamless integration while positioning the company for continued strategic growth in North America.
Henkel’s new 155,000 square foot North American consumer goods headquarters spans three floors and incorporates Henkel’s innovative global workplace strategy into the design of the Class A office space. Henkel’s workplace strategy is focused on collaboration, with designated “neighborhoods” for specific teams. Employees are encouraged to move around frequently throughout the day by accessing amenity spaces and a variety of flexible work areas designed for specific tasks including focus rooms, huddle rooms, phone rooms, a coffee/lunch room, and ample meeting rooms.
Creative product displays are seamlessly incorporated throughout the office design in recessed niches and in the conference rooms, to showcase Henkel’s global brands. The design also ensures that all areas of the office have access to natural daylight.
Located on the first floor of the building is a research and development facility. Package testing, formulation, microbiology and personal care areas were designed along with adjacent office and presentation spaces. The visibility between the research and office environments was significant in the design for efficiency and collaboration purposes. The design allows employees more access to natural light, knowledge-sharing opportunities and efficiency with shared equipment.

The General Contractor for the project was Turner Construction and CBRE provided brokerage and project management services.
Ware Malcomb has partnered with Henkel as a corporate account client on over 10 projects, beginning in 2010 providing interior architecture, lab planning and branding services for Henkel’s Innovation Center in Irvine, California. This project was a 75,500 square foot facility consisting of 50,000 square feet of office, 25,000 square feet of laboratory space and a new mechanical yard.
