KnollTextiles Craft Work Collection celebrates the artistry of textiles traditionally made by hand. The patterns reflect techniques and the skillful craftsmanship of old-world quilters, weavers and embroiderers. While Craft Work provides high visual interest and complexity in design and construction, it is in fact also a collection of high-performance fabrics, including bleach cleanable woven and non-woven upholsteries, woven and non-woven wallcoverings and a privacy curtain.
The initial spark for the collection came from a piece of intricate handmade artwork. This directly informed the design direction of It’s Complicated, a complex and rhythmic digitally printed polyurethane upholstery. Patterns Patchwork and On Point bring the concept of needlework to life. Patchwork offers a modern take on traditional quilting, using weave patterns and color instead of individual fabric swatches to create the allover ‘patchwork’ appearance. On Point is a classic flame stitch made modern through scale and bold color work. Balancing out the patterns in the collection is Premier, our first Silicone upholstery. Premier is a superior product comprised of a proprietary Silicone resin system that enhances its resistance to scuffing, scratching and abrasive cleaners, all while retaining a soft and luxurious hand.
Parade is a graphic privacy curtain with a hand-drawn appearance. The range in palette from soft neutrals to cheerfully saturated tones allows Parade to be non-age and non-gender specific; appropriate for all walks of healthcare and wellness facilities.
Hooray for 4 fresh colors of best-selling Bollywood. This multi-purpose, extreme performance textile can be used backed for direct glue wallcovering and unbacked for wrapped panel or indoor/outdoor upholstery use. Woven in 100% vinyl coated polyester, Bollywood has the Type II characteristics of being both bleach cleanable and scrubbable.
Simple, Savvy and Splendid make up our latest trio of Type II vinyl wallcoverings. The 3 patterns are available in a total of 34 colorways starting at $17/yard. Simple is a foundational wallcovering. The luminescent ground is embossed with a fabric-like texture. Savvy is printed with a silk-like texture then embossed with subtle vertical wavy lines. Three different print rollers were used to establish the natural look and feel of a highly detailed grass cloth on Splendid. Simple, Savvy and Splendid are all Type II 20-ounce vinyl, appropriate for use in any high traffic area.
It’s Complicated K2252
It’s Complicated was inspired by an intricately hand woven piece of artwork comprised of various multicolored yarns tacked down by a single thread. The same delicacy and complexity are captured in It’s Complicated through digital printing process requiring 6 image files. The layers of pattern are printed atop an Ombre ground, which allows subtle shifts of color to be seen behind the thread motifs. Don’t let this pretty pattern fool you. It’s Complicated is a performance product!

Parade is a playful new addition to KnollTextiles’ privacy curtains. It’s a mid-scale multi color geometric with a hand drawn quality woven in a combination of recycled and FR polyester. The combination of rectangular and circular motifs on a multicolored striped background makes Parade equally interesting on both sides. The palette consists of 6 colorways that are appropriate for use in hospital rooms, assisted living facilities, wellness centers and spas. As both non-age and non- gender specific, Parade can be a graphic and cheerful addition to environments beyond healthcare as well.

About KnollTextiles
KnollTextiles is currently under the creative direction of Dorothy Cosonas, who combines clean, clear color with modern, elegant patterns and textures. In 2005 Cosonas was named the 11th Creative Director of KnollTextiles. Her inaugural collection won a Best of NeoCon Gold award – her first of 9 along with 7 Silver awards for Knoll. In 2008, she founded Knoll Luxe as the fashion forward luxury component of KnollTextiles where she has contributed her own work along with collaborating fashion designers such as Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and Maria Cornejo. Her work was a major part of KnollTextiles 2011 retrospective exhibition at the Bard Graduate Center and has been accepted into the permanent collection of Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian National Design Museum. Most recently, Cosonas received the 2016 IIDA Titan Award.
