nanimarquina Launches the Blur Collection by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
The sequence of geometric shapes and repetition are definitive hallmarks of the Bouroullec brothers. The designers possess extensive experience in the design of artisan rugs with nanimarquina – Losanges in 2011 and Lattice in 2016 – choosing the Kilim as their favourite technique.
Their mastery, meticulousness, and tireless ability to always go a step further, has led them to work on Blur, a collection that offers two different appearances. When viewing the rug from afar, an indefinite, unfocused surface is apparent, that gives its name to the collection. Nevertheless, upon approaching the rug, lines and rhythmic rhombuses in different proportions are revealed, in the purest kinetic style.
This blurred effect has been achieved by inverting the sense in which the kilims are traditionally woven, which makes the process much more laborious. This change in weaving causes the lines to be blurred, mixing two colors unevenly, creating an aged rug, reminiscent of the past.
Blur has been handmade in Pakistan.
The collection comprises four models: Blur black, green and red available in 170 x 240 cm and 200 x 300 cm, and Blur runner measuring 75 x 400cm.

About Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec:
Ronan (born 1971, Quimper) and Erwan Bouroullec (born 1976, Quimper) are brothers and designers based in Paris. They have been working together for about fifteen years bonded by diligence and challenged by their distinct personalities with the intention to reach more balance and finesse.
Their work has covered many fields ranging from the design of small objects as jewelry to spatial arrangements and architecture, from craftsmanship to industrial scale, from drawings to videos and photography.
They have collaborated with leading design companies such as Alessi, Artek, Axor Hansgrohe Cappellini, Established & Sons, Glas Italia, Flos, Hay, Iittala, kreo gallery, Kvadrat, Kartell, Kettal, Ligne Roset, Magis, nanimarquina, Mattiazzi, Mutina, Samsung, Swarovski and Vitra.
