12 Spectacular Designer Tablescapes Up for Bid to Benefit Charity

As the holiday season quickly approaches, DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) has joined forces with Bloomingdale’s to launch  “Holiday By Design,” a shoppable installation and auction featuring dramatic tablescapes from the country’s best interior designers. Twelve holiday-inspired tablescapes are on display on the 4th floor of Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship through December 12 as part of the beloved retailer’s “Give Happy” Holiday campaign. The festive tabletop products are also up for bid on CharityBuzz through December 9 so shoppers and entertaining enthusiasts can bring the beauty of the holidays into their own home. Proceeds from the event raise money and awareness for those living with and impacted by HIV/AIDS, homelessness, food scarcity, and mental health issues.

Inspiration abounds with elaborate and themed installations from award winning interior designers Nate Berkus, David Rockwell of Rockwell Group, Jamie Drake of Drake/Anderson, Karim Rashid, Stephanie Goto, Ghislaine Viñas, Hariri&Hariri Architecture, Elaine Griffin, Daun Curry, Lizzie Tisch x LTD by Robert Verdi, Dufner Heighes, and Kim Seybert. From exquisite preserved floral arrangements from East Olivia to fine crystal from Baccarat and elegant porcelain, table and dinnerware from Bernardaud, Juliska, Royal Copenhagen, Waterford and Wedgewood, the tablescapes take holiday dinners to a new level of luxury.

“Creating a cozy holiday tablescape feels extra meaningful this year, as we celebrate with the ones we love,” comments interior designer, author and TV personality Nate Berkus. Jamie Drake, co-founder of Drake/Anderson, adds “The holidays are a time when we should put our feet up with loved ones and relax. With that thought, gilt glittered African animals, nestled in veldts of gold, adorn our table resting under a fantasy jungle tree. A celebration of DIFFA’s mission is the call to a jungle of caring.”

David Rockwell, founder and President, Rockwell Group worked with iconic Danish brands, such as Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen to create his seasonal design. “I was inspired by Copenhagen in winter when the sunlight reflects off the snow and ice. Our tablescape design conjures up boats floating in snow-covered canals and the dappling of winter light,” he says.

Architect and designer Stephanie Goto took inspiration from the bubbles of foam in Bernardaud’s classic Ecume design. “The “Give Happy” spirit of this year’s activation comes to life three dimensionally in our presentation,” she says. “The table is a sculpture that inspires the warmth and energy of togetherness.”

“We wanted to focus on the holiday spirit that connects us all – love in action, unity and hope for the future,” adds designer Daun Curry x East Olivia.

“This wonderful DIFFA Bloomingdale’s partnership harnesses what our creative community does best: design anything—this time it’s setting a stunning, one-of-a-kind table—and most importantly, making a DIFFA-rence!” concludes DIFFA Chairman of the Board and Editor in Chief of Interior Design, Cindy Allen.
