Lauren Rottet Participates in l’Appartamento by Artemest during Milano Design Week

Watercolor rendering of Living Room: Maksim Koloskov for Rottet Studio

Lauren Rottet, FAIA, FIIDA, internationally celebrated architect, Hall of Fame designer and founding principal/president and owner of Rottet Studio is participating in l’Appartamento by Artemest, the digital destination that offers unrivalled access to the world of Italian craftsmanship and design. Known for her award-winning interiors for the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, offices and high-end residences, Rottet will celebrate the tradition of Italian craftsmanship juxtaposed with handmade pieces and her cutting-edge furniture installed as a Grand Salon.

Rottet Studio is creating a 605 sq. ft. Living Room framed in an unexpected palette of golden brown and mint green featuring soft celadon wainscotting and upholstered silk brocade walls, all encased in hand-painted wood ceiling panels and a two-tone wood parquet diamond patterned floor. A rich golden wool-and-silk rug anchors the room, while a large sectional sofa upholstered in mink velvet and curved sofa in a blush suede provide comfort and a soft spot to land. Dark walnut wood chairs topped with curly Tibetan ecru add a playful quality to the scheme. The material palette also includes pale Venetian glass, light green marble, raw and semi-precious minerals, glowing Rubelli fabrics embedded with LED thread and one of Rottet’s signature surfaces, dichroic glass.

“The living room as it exists is a palette of two tertiary colors – golden brown and mint green – each faded over time to soft subtly grayed versions. Interestingly, the colors are almost complementary colors. This lends a warm/cool effect to the room, providing a natural energy with the two colors visually vibrating as the eye focuses back and forth from the short wavelength of mint green and long ofgolden brown, which is delightful as visual movement is always a part of our interiors,” said Rottet about her palette.
