IIDA NY Hosts Two Industry Icons for Pioneering Design® Series

L-R: Cheryl Durst, Cindy Allen

Together for the first time, Cindy Allen and Cheryl Durst will explore untold parallels in design

The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) proudly presents an intimate conversation with renowned industry icons Cindy Allen, Editor-in-Chief of Interior Design, and Cheryl Durst, Executive Vice President and CEO of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). The second part of IIDA NY’s Pioneering Design® Series, “Untold Parallels in Design: An Intimate Conversation between Cheryl & Cindy” is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10th, from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Join IIDA NY at the Shaw Contract Showroom, located at 853 Broadway, New York, NY 10003.

Durst will lead an engaging, one-on-one conversation with Allen, with both sharing insights into the design industry’s current landscape, commonalities, trends, and forecasts, providing the audience with a warm and in-depth discussion between two longtime leaders and friends. The Pioneering Design® Series showcases the power of collaboration in design, which seeks to expand perceptions, open discussion and bring innovative ideas to our community.

Lauded as one of the most influential advocates for the interior design profession, Allen has spent more than two decades as the Editor-in-Chief of Interior Design. With an unwavering passion for design, Allen spearheads the production of 14 annual print issues, a digital platform engaging a global audience exceeding nine million, and a dynamic events platform. Under her guidance, Interior Design continually evolves to showcase designers and their creative processes. With a commitment to philanthropy, she engages in supporting charitable causes and mobilizes the design community to explore new frontiers.

“IIDA NY’s Pioneering Design® Series provides a transformative platform for cultivating visionary perspectives and fostering innovation within the interior design industry,” said Allen. “I look forward to inspiring fellow design professionals and igniting a collective passion for boundless exploration and groundbreaking design.”

Committed to achieving broad recognition for the value of design and its significant role in society, Durst oversees the strategic direction of IIDA and is a sought-after speaker and accomplished interviewer who has shared her insights on design worldwide. Across her two-decade tenure as CEO, she has led industry initiatives in creating community, advancing advocacy, and continuing longstanding work toward equity. In 2016, Durst made history by being inducted into the prestigious Interior Design Hall of Fame and receiving its first-ever Leadership Award, marking her as the first African American woman to be so honored, and underscoring her groundbreaking contributions and leadership.

“Sharing expert perspectives and engaging in open dialog is a key part of the IIDA mission, which is beautifully embodied in this IIDA NY program,” said Durst. “Cindy and I connected years ago as women leaders in this industry, and I’m delighted to bring this audience into the common insights and varying points of view we have shared in our rich, ongoing conversation on design.”
