NYC-based Firm Announces New Leadership to Support Growth in the Hospitality Sector

TPG Architecture, an award-winning, New York City-based design firm, is excited to announce the appointment of a new Managing Executive, Shay Lam. The news comes on the heels of the firm’s recent growth within the hospitality sector, and is a testament to its strength and momentum as an organization.

“Shay is a creative leader who inspires and encourages innovative thinking with our clients and within our firm,” says Jim Phillips, Founder. “Shay is dedicated to pushing the boundaries and brings valuable perspectives, design strategies and a strong business acumen that will help our team continue to expand within this sector.”

Shay joined TPG Architecture in 2016 and has dedicated the past three years to building a strong roster of clients. In his time as Studio Design Director, Shay led a variety of projects within TPG Architecture’s growing hospitality practice that work to redefine and optimize the expectations of the guest experience. Most recently, Shay and his team completed the design for Citadines Apart’Hotels—a division of The Ascott Limited in New York. The design team was tasked with creating a home-away-from-home for guests while capturing the urban feel of New York City. Located in Midtown, ‘Citadines Connect Fifth Avenue’ reimagined the city’s iconic brownstone residences with a modern spin. Additional work includes projects for clients such as Marriott, Mack-Cali, and Gunung Sewu Kencana in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In his new role as Managing Executive, Shay will be responsible for continuing to provide his clients with a high-quality degree of attention that is reflective of the long standing relationships he has developed since joining the firm. Additionally, Shay will continue to drive innovative design at TPG Architecture in order to create projects that inspire. One of his primary goals is to actualize the trends that will propel design in the hotel and travel industry, as well as to discover and identify key drivers that are changing this sector.

Prior to joining TPG Architecture, Shay led design efforts at WeWork for WeLive, worked at Perkins Eastman Architects with a specialization in residential and hospitality interiors, and is an alumni of Tonychi and Associates in New York and Tamotsu Yagi Design in California. “I was drawn to the entrepreneurial spirit of the firm and have enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to its growth,” comments Shay. “I’m excited to continue working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated professionals in the field and look forward to further expanding our portfolio.”

As TPG Architecture approaches its 40th anniversary, Shay will work alongside current leadership to aid in the firm’s continued expansion. For more information and to learn more about TPG Architecture, please visit http://www.tpgarchitecture.com/.
