Spring Hospitality Trends: Report by Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering

With 40% of Americans traveling more in 2024 than in 2023, the hospitality industry is continuing its strong trajectory to pre-pandemic levels. On the design front, hotels and other hospitality settings are responding to the influx by reimagining their settings as dynamic, multi-functional spaces that lean on design for a differentiating “wow” factor. Momentum Textiles & Wallcoverings, known for their innovative approach to the hospitality market, has likewise looked at its own product development to best anticipate the market’s needs. Here, the largest provider of commercial textiles and wallcoverings pulls from its own design team’s expertise and research to identify what hospitality settings should anticipate in 2025. Read on to see how design can make it possible!

AI Innovation and Integration

AI continues to prove itself as an effective tool for increasing efficiency and improving company operations — a recent Deloitte study found that 79% of respondents expect generative AI to transform their organizations within three years. So how can designers also reap the benefits?

Momentum’s Digital Creations capabilities allow designers and specifiers to use their own original artwork and inspirations to create one-of-a-kind wallcovering experiences. For those experimenting with generative AI, the technology opens up a world of possibilities to expand their ideas, partner with Momentum to interpret, and then have them digitally printed on the brand’s extensive library of substrates. Whether a simple doodle, repetitive motif, or a fully-fledged piece of art created by generative AI, Momentum’s Digital Creations can help elevate each idea into a unique experience.

In addition to the infinitely customizable opportunities presented by Digital Creations, Momentum is embracing the AI revolution in other ways, recently unveiling a proprietary AI Text & Image Search feature that enables designers to choose their selected aesthetic seamlessly via the Momentum website. The AI tool instantly matches a specifier with a curated selection of textiles and wallcoverings to cater to each specific design need. Rather than stifling creativity, Momentum sees the potential for AI to act as the designer’s ultimate ally, amplifying the creative process and rewriting the narrative around its impact.

Hotels as Galleries

Brands like 21c Museum Hotels are embracing art in a whole new way, bringing galleries and exhibitions into their spaces to further elevate guest experience and distinguish themselves from competitors. To match this new guest standard and serve as a favorable partner for hotel brands taking this approach, manufacturers and designers must also reconceptualize their own offerings through creative approaches such as custom or collaborative collections. World-renowned artists bring their unique perspectives to bring once-in-a-lifetime work to create these experiences. Momentum is partnering with artists such as En Viu to add large-scale installations and digital murals inspired by the intersection of art and architecture. These collaborations are both a continuation of the brand’s existing product line or limited editions.

Maximalist Textures

Hotel Tech Report recently noted: “Not simply a place to sleep, hotels are stretching their artistic limits with unique lighting, funky furniture, unexpected color schemes, and eye-catching artwork.” The previously soft and sterile all-white rooms hotels embraced for so long are on their way out, with customers expecting more Instagrammable opportunities through visually interesting, maximalist designs. In particular, textures, as much as color and pattern, are adding to this mix. Momentum’s Mix Collage textiles, which celebrate creativity by drawing inspiration from cutout collage artwork, are crafted with soft, chunky materials to add an organic feel and inject an individual touch to a space. These textiles combine pattern, texture, and color to create hospitality experiences with a vibrant energy.

Momentum is also bringing layers of visual interest with Pindrop, the brand’s dedicated line of rigid acoustic solutions. The collection includes three initial offerings — shapes and tiles, architectural layers, and larger scale panels — which create inviting settings and captivating textures with its recycled PET felt strategically cut to boost dimensionality. Momentum further emphasizes dynamic and organic nature-inspired textures with the addition of 52 new colors to the Woods wallcovering collection, where wood’s contoured lines create key points of interest to otherwise flat hospitality settings.

Finding Nature through Color

The dynamic pops of color expected to find their way into hotels in the coming seasons prove that natural is anything but neutral. Looking beyond sand tones or soft blues, colors like bright Guava and saturated Solar Yellow embrace nature’s bolder side and provide a surprising complement to other design styles, such as clean Scandinavian lines. Momentum’s new Kivi wallcovering collection showcases a spectrum of impactful colors for 2025. Moody shades like the earthy Reddish Mesquite and the dark, charcoal Deepwell exude sophistication. Meanwhile, the lively hues of Guava orange and Solar yellow inject energy into the space. Momentum’s Mix Collage collection also plays with these bolder natural tones. The Crackle pattern, resembling plaster painted in relief, is available in a bright Sunflower yellow. For a more subdued palette that still evokes the beauty of the natural world, the Secco bouclé offers elegant options like Dried Rose pink and Plum brown.
