September CET Designer User of the Month: Drea Piper

Drea Piper is an interior designer at Storey Kenworthy in Des Moines, Iowa where she designs corporate spaces, as well as some education and health care spaces. She got her start in residential design and then transitioned to commercial design and has never looked back.

“Growing up, I loved drawing and doing puzzles,” Drea said. “What I love about design is that I can use my creativity and problem-solving skills to create beautiful and functional spaces for people to live, work and play in.”

Drea has been a CET Designer user for about 1.5 years. She uses it for drawings, specifying, and renderings, and especially loves Photo Lab. Drea loves that she can draw in 2D view and 3D view at the same time, and that she can also use live design to visualize spaces for the client.

“Before CET Designer, I used to go back and forth between programs when creating renderings and it was very time consuming,” Drea said. “Now, I am so much faster when designing and have become more involved with the sales process by utilizing live design.”

In 2019, Drea was recognized as a CET Designer Success Story Award winner. Her award-winning submission highlighted a project that used the reconfiguration tool and how it supported a quick turnaround and produced multiple bills of materials. She also shared how the reconfiguration tool helped her team be proactive by determining who could stay in a space and when departments had to be ready to move stations during the reconfiguration.

This year, she is returning to CET Experience as a speaker to teach users how to use the reconfiguration tool and share her best tips and tricks. She will cover how the tool can help users create lists for new, reusable and leftover product with a few clicks of a button.

“I can’t wait to share my knowledge on the reconfiguration tool,” Drea said. “I think this Extension can be really useful, especially during these times with COVID-19 and the need for social distancing in the workplace.”

What she enjoys most about the CET Experience is the opportunity to learn new things about CET Designer. She encourages anyone thinking about attending the CET Experience to attend.

“CET Designer is constantly evolving, and I love learning new tips and tricks from other users,” Drea said. “I encourage any user to attend CET Experience because you will learn so much and meet so many other users.”
