November 4, 2021 – Stamford, CT – The Village, a new indoor/outdoor premium waterfront campus designed to serve the needs of entrepreneurs and creators, is pleased to announce that MillerKnoll, a collective of dynamic brands comprising one of the largest and most influential modern design companies in the world, has joined its tenant community.

Created in July of 2021 following Herman Miller’s acquisition of Knoll, MillerKnoll now encompasses 19 legacy brands that redefine modern for the 21st century. The company’s just over 25,000 square-foot space will make MillerKnoll an anchor tenant and will serve as the new headquarters for its global retail business, supporting the retail activity of brands such as Herman Miller, Knoll, Design Within Reach, HAY, Fully and Muuto.

Bringing together best-in-class talent and companies, The Village was designed to be a new epicenter of culture north of New York City that unites storytellers, entrepreneurs and artisans under one roof. The Village serves as a new destination for work and play, to create and connect, to give back to the community, and to celebrate and dine with a view. Touting approximately 133,000 square feet with nearly 1,000 feet of walkable marina, The Village fuses modern office space and unique private event venues with world-class food and beverage offerings. It also encompasses one of Connecticut’s first LEED v4 commercial buildings, making it an outstandingly energy efficient commercial building. Wheelhouse Properties, run, owned and operated by Courtney Montgomery, is the developer of The Village.

Two of The Village’s core pillars are philanthropy and community, and its partnership with nearby Waterside School underscores this mission. The collaboration helps enrich the lives of students through hands-on immersions, scholarship support, internships and more in tandem with tenants and partners of the building. To support The Village’s commitment to philanthropy and community, Newmark has donated $25,000 of the brokerage fees back to Waterside School, and MillerKnoll also made a $25,000 donation to fund a one-year scholarship for a Waterside student.

“We are looking forward to relocating to a space that will provide us with opportunities for continued growth and collaboration,” said Debbie Propst, President of Global Retail for MillerKnoll. “Stamford has been home to our retail group for many years, and when evaluating the current and future needs of our evolving business, The Village’s location, suite of offerings and tenant mix made for an ideal home for the company.”

Newmark Executive Vice President James Ritman said, “Brent and Courtney Montgomery and their team at Wheelhouse are true visionaries for the region as they were able to rehabilitate an underutilized asset to create something reminiscent of space one would find in the Meatpacking District or SoHo. Their vision has paid off as the property quickly leased up during the pandemic. That momentum illustrates the unique features of The Village and the desire for top-rated area firms to locate near other synergistic tenants in a high-quality and unique space.”

The Village Founder and Wheelhouse CEO Brent Montgomery said, “We feel lucky to be part of such an incredible community here, and are excited for all that’s ahead as the building starts to open its office doors. When you bring together great people from different paths to collaborate, the sky is the limit.”
