In a move that will further solidify its Northwest presence and tenant planning services, NWH-owned design firm NELSON has reached an agreement to merge operations with Marvin Stein Associates. This move comes roughly one year after Seattle-based firm EHS Design joined the design organization. The acquisition marks the sixth for NWH Companies in the past two years and the second in Seattle in 2015.
The strategic partnership represents the organization’s increased focus on strengthening design throughout the West, establishing a local footprint. The addition of RipBang, an NWH Company in Los Angeles in 2014 began the firm’s expansion into the region. Since then, the emphasis on the region has remained of paramount importance.
“Both EHS Design and Marvin Stein have a history of being Seattle’s premier tenant planners,” said John Ozzie Nelson Jr., Chairman and CEO of NWH and NELSON. “We believe that the addition of Marvin Stein Associates brings value to both the NELSON team and the broader organization, and will enhance our current reach in the Northwest. We value their experience and leadership, and look forward to welcoming them to our team.”
Established in 1978, Marvin Stein Associates is a reputable planning and interior design firm specializing in tenant improvement design as well as interior architecture for all manner of commercial buildings in the Puget Sound area of Washington. Their comprehensive focus on client objectives will supplement the tactical skills of the current Northwest team.
Steve Navarro, Principal at Marvin Stein Associates and Director of Northwest Operations for NELSON, noted, “The Marvin Stein team is very excited to be working with our new teammates in Seattle as well as having the added expertise of all of our new teammates in offices across the country. We’ve been very successful for 37 years by concentrating solely on our client’s needs. Providing great project leadership and working hard to communicate extremely well, builds and maintains relationships. Joining the NELSON team and NWH organization will not change that focus but rather, it will reinforce it.
Effective January 1st, 2016, the firm will operate as Marvin Stein Associates, A NELSON Company under the leadership of Steve Navarro and Mia Marshall. Galen Holden, another long time Principal at Marvin Stein Associates is retiring after 30 plus years with the company
