Landscape Forms Acquires Kornegay Design

North America’s premier manufacturer of site furniture, accessories and LED lighting welcomes leading producer of high-design, hand-crafted concrete planters in acquisition based on shared values and opportunities for expanded market share.

Landscape Forms is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of Phoenix-based Kornegay Design. Founded by Larry and Paula Kornegay in 2000 to bring high design, attention to craft, and sustainable practices to the production of concrete planters, Kornegay has earned a reputation among architects and landscape architects for its large-scale handcrafted products.  Landscape Forms President and CEO Richard Heriford explains, “The synergy is really about like minds and the shared values of design, culture and craft. We are similar companies in many ways, albeit at different scales. When you place our top client lists side by side, they are identical. Our products are made of different materials but they appeal to the same discriminating audience.”

Landscape Forms and Kornegay Design have been marketing partners since 2010. The ancient material and old-world craft of Kornegay planters provide a compelling counterpoint to the contemporary, hard-edge materials and tech-based finishes of Landscape Forms site elements. The refined sensibility and attention to form and detail that characterize both companies provide a rich vocabulary of products that work harmoniously together. Multiple award-winning Kornegay planters currently offered by Landscape Forms are highly successful, and are found in retail centers, medical facilities, corporate campuses, hotels and universities nationwide. The acquisition will bring many more Kornegay products into the Landscape Forms portfolio and introduce another material to its palette with new opportunities for creative exploration and expression.

Kirt Martin, Vice President of Design and Marketing, states, “Kornegay planters are sculptural and beautiful. Each one is unique and shows an authenticity and care that inspires us. The attention to design and craft are very real and complimentary to how Landscape Forms works. Concrete is an ancient material found in all regions and climates. We look forward to continuing the Kornegay legacy, using the founders’ wisdom to inform how we interpret the material to bring remarkable handcrafted products to a wider audience.”

Kornegay products will be marketed under the brand “Kornegay Design, a Landscape Forms Company.” The transition will be managed by Jodi L. Havera, Landscape Forms Vice President of Finance and CFO. Production will continue at the existing Kornegay facility in Phoenix and its loyal and valued workforce will remain in place as Landscape Forms employees. Marketing will be created and directed by Landscape Forms, and sales will be handled by Landscape Forms direct sales reps and independent rep groups nationwide. Larry and Paula Kornegay will provide expertise during the transition and design inspiration going forward.  “We built this company from the ground up, put our hearts into it, and feel there is no other team that can carry out the legacy of what we have built like Landscape Forms,” noted Larry Kornegay.

Landscape Forms is pleased to offer Kornegay designs as part of its wide array of standard product and to welcome Kornegay employees into their new family. Richard Heriford concludes, “The connection seemed natural from the start. This is a perfect match, in terms of the value we place on design and on people, that will expand Landscape Forms product offering and brand leadership. We look forward to a great future together.”
