IIDA Recognizes Ohio State Rep Tim Schaffer as the 2017 Legislator of the Year

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) proudly announces Ohio State Representative Timothy Schaffer (R-77) as the 2017 IIDA Legislator of the Year. This annual award recognizes an elected official who has put forth extraordinary effort on behalf of the commercial Interior Design profession.

Rep. Schaffer, chair of the Ohio House of Representatives Ways and Means and Economic Development Committee, championed Ohio interior designers by preventing a provision in Ohio Governor John Kasich’s budget that would have led to a sales tax on interior design services. Schaffer recognized that a tax on interior design would not only hurt the profession, but also would have a negative impact on Ohio’s economy.

“Representative Schaffer’s work on the interior design sales tax provision exemplifies the kind legislative efforts that make it possible for our industry to continue to have a positive impact on local and state economies. We sincerely thank him for his tireless work on the behalf of interior designers in Ohio,” said IIDA Advocacy and Legislative Affairs Director Emily Kluczynski.
