IIDA Announces Winners of Two Prestigious Design Competitions
Winners named for the 50th annual Interior Design Competition and the 31th annual Will Ching Design Competition
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is honored to announce the winners of the 50th annual Interior Design Competition and the 31st annual Will Ching Design Competition. The Interior Design Competition, marking its golden anniversary, recognizes creativity and innovation within the global interior design industry, paired with the Will Ching Design Competition that highlights outstanding commercial design from firms with ten employees or fewer.
“This year holds incredible milestones for the interior design profession as we revel in IIDA’s 30th anniversary, as we celebrate 50 years of the prestigious Interior Design Competition, and as we look to the future ahead of what the built space continues to become,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “These winners represent immense global talent that makes the built environment come alive and make beautiful, tangible, and enjoyable places where we thrive.”
Winners were chosen by a jury including the following distinguished design experts: RATIO Design Principal and Interiors Studio Leader, Andrea Caputo, IIDA; Arcadis Principal and Creative Director, Robin Elmsie Osler, IIDA, AIA; and Architecture Research Office LC Principal, Kim Yao, FAIA.
“The winners represented here embody the skills like deep creativity delivering wonder and well-being, master application of modern materials, and a thorough sense of clarity to bring those elements together,” said Osler on behalf of the jury. “Design and designers alike are in a renaissance of sorts as places and spaces rapidly transition from familiar to extraordinary experiences.”

Project: U.S. Bank Center, Seattle, Washington
Firm: SkB Architects, Seattle, Washington
Residences Large (125 square meters and above)
Project: House Zero, Austin, Texas
Firm: Lake|Flato Architects, San Antonio, Texas
Project: Lackawanna, East Hampton, N.Y.
Firm: Stelle Lomont Rouhani Architects, Bridgehampton, N.Y.
The Will Ching Design Competition winners include:
Corporate Space Small (under 1,000 square meters)

The winners for both competitions will be honored in person at Revel in Design, IIDA’s black-tie event, on Sunday, June 9 at the Four Seasons Chicago.
