IIDA Announces Lindzey Duval as the Student of the Year

Lindzey Duval

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is proud to announce Lindzey Duval, Student IIDA, as the 2017 IIDA Student of the Year. The Student of the Year award recognizes a Student Member whose insight, involvement, and leadership have significantly impacted his or her school’s interior design program. Duval will be presented with $5,000, courtesy of OFS Brands, and celebrated at the IIDA Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 11, at the Contemporary Museum of Art in Chicago.

“Lindzey’s passion, drive, and enthusiasm for the Interior Design industry are apparent in her commitment to her school’s interior design program, her Campus Center, and her academic work,” said IIDA Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “Moreover, Lindzey understands the power of design to connect people and make a positive and lasting impact on society. We are so pleased to name Lindzey the 2017 IIDA Student of the Year.”

Duval, a senior and teaching assistant in the interior design program at Texas State University, is also president of the university’s IIDA Campus Center. She previously served as the Campus Center’s membership chair and public relations chair. Duval recently completed internships with the firms Lauckgroup and Jauregui Architect, both in Austin, Texas.

Prior to college, Duval was a competitive dancer, which sparked her interest in art and design and ultimately led her to pursue a profession where her creativity could flourish. She plans to move to Chicago following graduation where she will begin her career in the Interior Design industry.

Duval will be featured on the IIDA website, in the bimonthly e-newsletter Design Matters, and in the Student Member quarterly e-newsletter QUAD. She also will receive a complimentary 2018 IIDA membership. For more information about the IIDA Student of the Year Award, visit iida.org.
