IIDA Announces 9th Annual Healthcare Design Awards Recipients

IIDA is proud to announce the recipients of the 2020 IIDA Healthcare Design Awards. This competition recognizes excellence and originality in healthcare interior design from concept to furnishings and interior spaces.

“We are all currently laser-focused on the future of healthcare environments and how they can be designed to better serve and support patients and their families,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “This year’s competition winners focused on end-user well-being and creative solutions to common healthcare needs in addition to calming, elegant aesthetics.”

Entries were judged by a jury of design professionals, including Lilliana Alvarado, IIDA, founder and design principal at UPHEALING; Gilbert Broco, IIDA, vice president of culture and design at CI Group; and Sara K. Wengert, AIA, ASID, principal at architecture+.

“The winning designs respond directly to the need for a refined, serene, and private clinical experience,” said Wengert on behalf of the jury. “The designers have treated the users with dignity and are an inspiration for the healthcare design community. We are honored to celebrate the winning projects for 2020.”
