At Gensler, our vision for the future of work is to design environments where productivity and well-being go hand in hand. Aeonica provides a versatile and flexible toolkit that supports the needs of the workspace of the future.

Gensler has been awarded Le FRENCH DESIGN 100 for Aeonica – a new design concept for today’s workspaces. Aeonica has been recognised in the 3rd edition of the prize among the top 100 French design and interior architecture projects from around the world that celebrate French savoir-faire, craftsmanship and the art of living. The new furniture line designed by Gensler for Spacestor was selected from over 570 submissions from 50 countries by an international jury chaired by Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou, Paris.

Philippe Paré, Managing Director, Gensler Paris said: “We are thrilled that Aeonica, the new furniture range for Spacestor, is a recipient of Le FRENCH DESIGN 100. We are proud that this concept is recognised among the best French designs globally. At Gensler, our vision for the future of work is to design environments where productivity and well-being go hand in hand. Aeonica provides a versatile and flexible toolkit that supports the needs of the workspace of the future.”

Spacestor, creators of architectural, space-defining furniture, appointed Gensler as Product Design Consultant for Aeonica, a new interior landscaping toolkit for the workspace. Aeonica takes inspiration from timeless classical architectural forms to provide a fluid, flexible and future-proof kit-of-parts. Aeonica features five classic geometric building blocks – each piece of which is engineered for inter-compatibility and the creation of a vast choice of space-makers, from classic Colonnades to spacious Pantheons, all without building walls. The pure geometric shapes and patent-pending quick-release joining system means shapes can be reused and reconfigured many times.

Gensler designed Aeonica to be fun to use, evoking childhood memories of construction sets with elemental forms that create imaginary cities and structures. Aeonica offers a similar sense of play to the workplace designer. Creating many new possibilities, it can be used to create freestanding workplace typologies such as privacy nooks, meeting rooms, and alcoves. When laid out in a linear manner, effective enclosed spaces or visual separation can be created, without resorting to shelving or partitions that offer little acoustic benefit.

Gensler worked closely with Spacestor for over two years to design Aeonica with the vision of bringing something new to the workplace. In a world of constant change, Gensler recognises the future workplace needs space settings that are stimulating, refreshing, and highly adaptable. The origins of Aeonica stem from Spacestor’s philosophy of flexibility and sustainability, as well as a call for softer, more organic shapes in the workplace, offering playful, welcoming and relaxed environments.

Le FRENCH DESIGN 100 celebrates the 100 best French objects and interior design projects internationally and pays tribute to the entire ecosystem of designers, manufacturers and artisans that are essential to the French art of living. For more information, visit lefrenchdesign.org.
