CIDA Gauges Community Support for Adoption of Professional Standards 2017

2015.0831.Nwy.CIDAThe Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) invites the community to comment on support for adoption of the final draft of Professional Standards 2017. The final draft of Professional Standards 2017 is available for community review from August 14 through October 14, 2015. Finalized standards are slated for adoption at the end of 2015, with publication in January 2016 and implementation in January 2017.

The final draft of Professional Standards 2017 describes accreditation criteria for professional-level interior design education developed through a diligent and intensive process of research, analysis, validation, and stakeholder engagement that began in 2013. Information gathered from environmental scanning, surveying, strategic visioning, and audits of current standards was considered in crafting an initial draft of Professional Standards 2017 that was posted for public comment from April-June 2015. The current and final draft standards reflect refinements made as a result of this input.

The CIDA standards development project is at a culminating point and the community is strongly encouraged to participate in this final opportunity for comment. CIDA standards have been and continue to be a hallmark of quality upon which the foundation for excellence in the interior design profession stands. We are proud of the work CIDA has accomplished and anticipate the next generation of accreditation standards will serve the profession well into the future,” states CIDA Board Chair Pamela Evans, Ph.D., FIDEC, IIDA.
