Camira bolsters business with three new appointments

L-R: Gabriela Cobb, Paul Tucker, Emily Timm

International designer and manufacturer of sustainable fabrics, Camira Group, Inc, has strengthened its sales and business development teams through the addition of three new direct hires within the contract and hospitality segments.

Camira Group, which is celebrating 50 years since the business was originally founded in the UK, has appointed Emily Timm as Director of Sales (A&D), Paul Tucker as Sales Manager (OEM) and Gabriela Cobb as Business Development Manager (Hospitality). Emily Timm, whose experience spans more than 20 years in the interior design industry, has previously managed her own independent design firm, taught Textiles and Design Communications at Western Michigan University, and held several business development roles with furniture and surface material brands.

Paul Tucker returns to Camira to assume responsibility for OEM sales, having previously worked within the company’s customer service department in Grand Rapids, MI, before taking on successful business development roles first for Fully, now part of Miller Knoll, and most recently Empire Office. Gabriela Cobb, meanwhile, takes on a new position responsible for Business Development in the Hospitality sector, based in San Diego, CA, having built a successful career in office and contract interiors over a 20 year period.

President of Camira Group, Inc, Chris Silguero commented: “These are exciting new hires who will each play an integral role in delivering our ambitious growth plans within the North American marketplace, whilst working in close collaboration with our global teams.

We have a strong new product pipeline in our 50th anniversary year, which Emily, Paul and Gabriela will bring to market in USA and Canada. Their appointments form part of our longer-term global business development strategy, which is targeting a doubling of the group business in North America over the next five years.”

Camira Group, whose North America HQ and distribution is in Grand Rapids, Michigan, produces around 10 million yards of contract fabrics a year, sold in up to 75 countries worldwide. The business’s main markets include workplace, higher education, hospitality, and public transport.

The business is best known for its award-winning environmental textiles including fabrics made from harvested plants such as hemp and flax, wool felts, recycled wool, and post-consumer recycled polyesters, including SEAQUAL marine waste.

News of the recent hires follows the launch of worsted wool fabric Penta, which was introduced in March this year and is created using five different colored yarns to create one complex colorway.

About Camira:

Camira designs and manufacturers textiles for every space and sector; from commercial and residential, to public transport, including bus, coach and rail.

Camira is a privately-owned UK textile group founded in 1974 under the name Camborne Fabrics, but its heritage goes back to 1783 through various acquisitions. Until a management buy-out in 2006, the company was a subsidiary of Interface, an international manufacturer of textile modular floor coverings, for almost ten years. Today, Camira has an annual turnover of around £95 million and employs more than 650 people. Its products are sold in approximately 75 countries and the business produces eight million metres per year.

Headquartered in the UK, the company has manufacturing facilities in the UK and Lithuania, offices and showrooms in Europe, North America, Australia and China and a global network of agents and distributors.

The company has always been a pioneer of innovation when it comes to a sustainable understanding of textiles and has been producing recycled fabrics for more than 20 years, as well as innovating a new category of fabrics made from natural wool and bast fibres, such as nettle, hemp, and flax.
