Art Basel 2016: Venus Williams for VStarr Interiors + Roche Bobois
Venus Williams for VStarr Interiors joins renowned luxury furniture brand Roche Bobois at Art Basel 2016 for a charitable collaboration to benefit one of Miami’s most notable and respected charity organizations, Lotus House. Together with six other talented designers, “The Furtif Art Project” installation will showcase the transformation of Bobois’ classic FURTIF desk into personalized works of art, which will accept bids for auction through December 5th. Proceeds from auction will also benefit UNICEF.
The Blank Canvas: Roche Bobois Class FURTIF Desk
Using a multidimensional process, VStarr Interiors designer Venus Williams creates a visual juxtaposition of her handwritten motivational affirmations, as both a professional tennis player, and as a vibrant designer for her burgeoning company, V STARR Interiors. The piece represents Change as a constant, reflected in the desk’s various angles as well through the usage of multi-colored leathers from Moore + Giles.
The Design Process
Venus Williams shares, “Just like every match, point and opponent is different, the design for this desk required a similar approach. It must be viewed from a myriad of different perspectives to be truly seen and appreciated.”
