Arborite to Host Industry Leaders in Montréal, Circuit-Index 2016
Montreal-Based Laminate Leader to Headline Annual Show with Activities in Griffintown
Arborite is bringing design to its home turf in Montreal as an exhibitor and sponsoring brand of the 2016’s Circuit Index-Design. Circuit Index is a moment when designers and top brands come together for installations, networking, and education programming to deepen their relationships and expand their knowledge. This year’s events will take place Sep. 15-16 throughout Montreal’s hip Griffintown area, home to innovative design showrooms and spaces. Arborite will also be joined by top architects, designers and design industry leaders from the US and Canada, who will enjoy exclusive tours, product previews, and education events at Arborite’s headquarters and Circuit-Index.
At the show, Arborite will showcase its collaboration with LA-based Studio Ouli for the 2016 Sight Unseen OFFSITE show. For this play on a dining set composed of table, bench, and chairs, lead designer Brooke Intrachat focused on the idea of reinvention, asking the question does progress exist within aesthetics? Using a versatile product like laminate, the Ouli designers have created thought-provoking pieces that turn design standards on their heads.
Arborite Marketing Director Teresa Gentile explains, “Arborite has been designing and manufacturing in Montreal for more than 60 years. It was natural to bring some of our latest introductions and celebrate the rich community of Canadian designers. We’re excited to enjoy one-on-one time with all the visitors and help them discover the Arborite brand and our history.”
In addition to showcasing their pieces with Studio Ouli at Circuit-Index, Arborite will also sponsor a Q+A with leading materials expert Grace Jeffers. Jeffers will offer insight into the importance and innovation of faux materials, such as Arborite laminate, to designers visiting the booth. Jeffers’ research explores the truth to materials, looking at how man-made materials can come to the rescue and help preserve the world’s diminishing natural resources.
