World Green Building Week is almost here, and GBCs and their members are holding a wide range of exciting events all over the globe from 21 to 27 September. If you’re holding an event and haven’t submitted the details, be sure to tell us about it so we can add it to the calendar. We want you to maximise the impact of this global initiative, so we’ll also have a range of media resources available to help GBCs promote the campaign – look out for more on that soon. World Green Building Week has the loudest voice and the biggest impact when we all get involved – we urge you to encourage your members to take part by attending local events. Check out the events calendar to find out how you and your members can get involved: www.worldgreenbuildingweek.org/events.

Have you heard about our Better Places for People campaign? Do you want to know more? Our interactive webinars on 23 and 24 September will introduce our newest initiative, which aims to raise demand for green buildings by highlighting their potential health and wellbeing benefits. The campaign team will share insights from industry working groups, shedding light on barriers and solutions for improving health and wellbeing in buildings. Participants will also be able to ask questions of the team. Members of GBCs are very welcome in addition to GBCs themselves. Join us and learn how we can all strive to make Better Places for People. WorldGBC-COPMaking Our Stand at COP21
With the most important COP in decades coming up in December, we’re working hard to make the planned Buildings Day really count in the fight against climate change. WorldGBC and our member GBCs around the world will be declaring our commitment in the coming months, so that we can all stand on the world stage and attest that green buildings are part of the climate solution! Member GBCs recently received information about our collective commitment and getting involved in our plans for COP21 – if you are an Established, Emerging or Prospective GBC and you did not receive this, please contact Kim for a copy – ksurtees@worldgbc.org. Remember, we need to know initial interest in the WorldGBC commitment by September 16.

We’re proud to present the winners and finalists of these awards, who will be touring as part of our Asia Pacific Awards Roadshow. 2015.0907.Event.WorldGBC-SydneyOperaHouseSpotlight on Established GBC Impact
Established GBCs are leaders in their own countries, and their influence has a tangible impact on the green building industry. Like the GBCA, who recently certified the Sydney Opera House with a 4 Star Green Star – Performance rating. Only a handful of World Heritage buildings are certified green, and adding this iconic building to that list is generating significant recognition for green building both in Australia and worldwide. Great work from the GBCA, and an example to follow! Learn more: www.gbca.org.au/news/gbca-media-releases/opera-house-awarded-for-sustainability-leadership.
