Herman Miller Featured for 12th Year in RobecoSAM Sustainability Yearbook
The RobecoSAM Group has once again selected Herman Miller, Inc., for inclusion in its Sustainability Yearbook, a listing of the worldâs most sustainable companies in each industry as determined by their score in the annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Companies featured in the yearbook scored in the top 15 percent on the assessment and are considered the most strongly positioned to create long-term shareholder value for investors. This is Herman Millerâs 12th consecutive year appearing in the yearbook, earning a âBronze Classâ distinction for 2016.
RobecoSAMâs Corporate Sustainability Assessment measures financially material factors that impact a companyâs core business value drivers. Factors including a companyâs ability to innovate, attract and retain talent, and increase resource efficiency are weighted heavily because of the impact on a companyâs competitive position and long-term financial performance. The Sustainability Yearbook is the worldâs most comprehensive publication on corporate sustainability and has grown to become one of the leading reference guides to the worldâs sustainability leaders.
âIâm proud of the many teams who work hard every day to maintain our commitment to sustainable business practices,â said Brian Walker, Herman Millerâs Chief Executive Officer. âFor a long time, weâve been widely recognized as the most innovative sustainable design brand in our industry. Our goal is to remain a trailblazer not just because itâs the right thing to do, but because we hope to inspire change and engage others in our effort to create a better world.â
Herman Millerâs commitment to corporate social responsibility dates back nearly 100 years to the companyâs founder. Today, Herman Miller continues to benchmark its goals and accomplishments in the annual Better World Report, which highlights initiatives like the Earthright sustainability strategy, company-wide Inclusiveness Resource Teams (IRTs), ongoing community volunteerism, and the employee-led âHerman Miller Caresâ giving board.
Herman Miller is one of just 464 companies worldwide to score high enough in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment to qualify for the 2016 Sustainability Yearbook. The assessment results also serve as the basis for the construction of the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI), to which Herman Miller has been named annually since 2004.
