Commercial Interior Design Bill Passes Utah Senate
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Interior Design and Education for Legislation (IDEAL) for Utah, and the IIDA Intermountain Chapter are pleased to announce that Utah Senate Bill 117, “Commercial Interior Design Certification Modifications,” has passed the Utah Senate.
Utah Senate Bill 117 creates certification for commercial interior designers, allowing them to submit their documents for building permits. The effort, led by lobbyist Amy Coombs, Senior Partner, Prestige Government Relations and Consulting Group, has been a two-year process supported by IIDA, IDEAL for Utah, and the IIDA Intermountain Chapter.
“We are beyond excited that the steadfast efforts of IDEAL-Utah, the IIDA Intermountain Chapter, and IIDA Headquarters have led to progress of S.B. 117 in the Utah Legislature,” said Melanie Bahl, IIDA, President of IDEAL for Utah. “This important piece of interior design legislation will lead to expanded opportunities for commercial interior designers and allow them to practice to the fullest extent of their abilities.”
Utah S.B. 117 is expected to be heard by the Utah House of Representatives.
