LX Hausys Announces Declare Label Status for its HIMACS and Viatera Products

HIMACS Pietra Collection

LX Hausys America Inc., an innovative manufacturer of building and decorative materials, announced today that its entire portfolio of HIMACS Solid Surface and Viatera Quartz Surface products has achieved Declare label status. Issued by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), Declare labels provide an important level of transparency by disclosing all product ingredients, enabling customers to see the “nutritional” information of a product in order to make informed purchasing decisions.

“Adding the Declare label to our family of surface products is another step to fulfilling our vision of creating human-friendly and eco-conscious living spaces,” said LX Hausys America President KJ Kim. “Product transparency is important not just for us and our customers, but for the greater good of creating a more sustainable world. With the ongoing focus toward developing environmentally responsible buildings, the Declare label can significantly decrease the time and cost architects and designers spend vetting products, while also ensuring their projects meet health and sustainability requirements. We are proud to join other prestigious companies who have committed to obtaining Declare labels for their products.”

The Declare label covers LX Hausys’ expansive range of colors across its HIMACS and Viatera brands, encompassing more than 200 different colors. In addition to showing the product’s ingredients, the Declare label also provides the product’s life expectancy, its embodied carbon and end-of-life options, and whether it is compliant with IFLI’s Living Building Challenge, a program for responsible product sourcing and healthy interior performance. Architects, designers and other customers can view and download the Declare labels on the LX Hausys website.

The Declare label achievement adds to the company’s other ongoing environmentally responsible initiatives. These include: Obtaining Environmental Product Declarations, Health Product Declarations and Greenguard certifications; developing products with certified pre-consumer recycled content; and instituting eco-friendly procedures at its U.S.-based and global manufacturing facilities.

In a statement, the ILFI said: “We applaud LX Hausys for their Declare label achievement. The company has shown its dedication and leadership in this industry when it comes to designing healthy products, as well as their commitment to rigorous transparency, which is critical to creating a sustainable future.”

HIMACS is a non-porous solid surface with durability similar to that of natural stone. Engineered to withstand everyday wear and tear, it offers a high resistance to stains and chemicals and is ideal for applications where hygiene is essential. Its easy-to-clean surface does not require sealing or special products for maintenance and is repairable. HIMACS’s 3D thermoforming and translucent properties yield versatile design possibilities.

Viatera colors are comprised of up to 93 percent quartz, making Viatera a superior surfacing option when compared to natural stone. Manufactured as a non-porous product, Viatera prevents harmful bacteria or mold from penetrating into the surface and does not require regular application of sealants. Using sustainable material and an eco-friendly manufacturing process, Viatera is NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) and Greenguard® certified.
