Tarkett, a worldwide leader in innovative and sustainable flooring and sports surface solutions, announces a strategic partnership with the New York- based trend forecasting studio, Edelkoort Inc.

Led by partners Li Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano, the experienced firm is a world leader in trend research, design consulting and exhibition curating. This partnership is designed to promote the new NYC Tarkett Atelier, located at 440 Park Avenue South, with ongoing programming. The relationship also continues Tarkett’s commitment to collaboration and providing inspiration for its clients.

Launching with the grand opening of the Tarkett Atelier on October 30th, Edelkoort Inc. will curate a series of 4 panels through 2020 to discuss contemporary issues pertinent to the interiors industry, sustainability and creativity at large. The studio will also be staging two design exhibitions within the space in fall 2019 and in spring 2020.

“Edelkoort Inc. is the leading institute focused on analyzing the future of consumer attitudes and lifestyles. This strategic partnership is critical to Tarkett, not only for the intel for our product development and services, but as a way for us to share this information with our architects and designers. We want to build a destination that doesn’t just serve Tarkett, but is a space for customers to visit and be regularly inspired and enlightened,” said Chris Stulpin, chief creative officer for Tarkett North America.

Tarkett will celebrate the grand opening of its New York Atelier on October 30th with an invitation-only panel discussion called Circular by Design, curated by trend studio Edelkoort Inc. and featuring Jessica Schreiber of Fabscrap, Dhruv Raina of Tarkett, and designers Suzanne Tick and Zero Waste Daniel, moderated by trend analyst Philip Fimmano of Edelkoort.

Changing Vase by Studio Dirk Vander Kooij

As in all industries, the interior design sector is in a period of change, responding to the ecological challenges of our times by seeking more conscious strategies and the production of less waste. As a worldwide leader of innovative and sustainable flooring, Tarkett is committed to addressing these issues and has invited the four esteemed panelists to discuss circular systems within their practice. They will talk about what we can do with waste – from the fashion, interior and textile industries and beyond. Multiple ideas emerge as examples to live and design by, instigating change and inspiring creativity one scrap at a time.

“We’re thrilled to be invited to animate Tarkett’s New York Atelier by bringing together both local and international designers in a dynamic series of talks and exhibitions. These consciously-minded and material-driven contributors inspire us in our trend work, and we hope the A&D community will connect with them too in the spirit of sharing and collaboration,” said Philip Fimmano, partner of Edelkoort Inc.

Aligned with this panel discussion, the first exhibition looks at objects and materials that are Circular by Design and will feature the work of over 10 international designers. Each item will be placed on podiums made with a variety of Tarkett flooring and will be on view for the public for four months starting November 1, 2019.
