Ashley McGraw Architects Names Susanne Angarano Firm Principal

Susanne Angarano

Ashley McGraw Architects is pleased to announce that Susanne Angarano ASID, CID, NCIDQ has been named a principal in the firm.

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to shape the success of our practice,” said Angarano, who joined the firm in 2012. “I look forward to helping my colleagues, our clients, and our community achieve their goals by delivering projects that have extraordinary value in both performance and aesthetics.” As principal, Angarano will continue in her role as Senior Interior Designer at the studio.

“Susanne’s passion for creating spaces for working and learning that are both beautiful and more effective enriches our work, and in turn, the experiences of our clients. Having her voice on the leadership team will make the entire firm stronger,” said Sandra March, Ashley McGraw Architects principal and vice president.

Angarano is a specialist in developing interiors for higher education institutions—a particularly dynamic sector of Ashley McGraw’s client base. She said, “As campus life evolves and curriculums change, programs have begun to shift, sometimes quite radically. To accommodate these exciting evolutions, we know there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach; each project requires a customized solution.”

Committed to environmentally sound design, Angarano recognizes the responsibilities of her profession. “I believe that through continuous learning, exploration, analysis, and a holistic understanding of sustainability, we can create design that can change peoples’ lives for the better—and has a positive impact on the environment around us, as well.” She is currently heading the interior design team for a research facility at Binghamton University, Nuthatch Hollow, which is targeting Living Building certification.

An active member of the design community, Angarano has presented her work and research on the evolving role of interior design at several professional conferences, including the New York State Green Building Conference and the Physical Plant Administrators Association.

Angarano holds a Master of Arts degree in Design: Sustainable Design Studies/Interior Design from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from Syracuse University.
