Valerie Moran was a visionary in the design industry who lost her battle to cancer the summer of 2014. She started her career as an interior designer and in 1985 she began a longtime affiliation with Grange, later serving for a short period as chairman of B&B Italia, America. Valerie also became a professional consultant in product development, space design, and business, marketing and merchandising for several brands, and presented popular seminars, here and abroad. IFDA benefited directly from her business acumen: she served as president of the New York Chapter and chairman of the Past President Council. She will be widely remembered as a gracious, generous, joyful, and compassionate woman, whose big beautiful smile lit up the lives of all who shared her company and enthusiasm for life.
International Furnishing and Design Association (IFDA), founded in New York City, has 12 chapters worldwide. Providing a professional forum for communication and interaction among its high-profile members, the IFDA promotes career advancement and educational opportunities. Celebrating its 65th Year in 2012 the association is structured to increase public awareness of the furnishings and design industry through specialized programming and service to the community.
The IFDA Educational Foundation, organized in 1970, is the philanthropic arm of the organization, dedicated to the support and service of the home furnishings and interior design community. A non-profit, tax exempt 501c3 organization, the Foundation raises and distributes funds in the form of grants and scholarships to foster educational activities and benefiting individuals and / or institutions in the industry. Administered by a five-member Board of Trustees, IFDA/EF supports the development of industry professionals through sponsorship of educational programs, aid to IFDA Chapters through Chapter Partnerships Grants, and financial participation and support of design related projects of museums, libraries and historical landmarks.
