SmithGroupJJR Announces New Corporate Director of Interiors

Rob Moylan, IIDA, LEED AP, Assoc. AIA, has been promoted to Corporate Director of Interiors at SmithGroupJJR. In the new position, Moylan will provide strategic direction nationally for innovative and integrated processes that encourage designers to be creative, agile, and take risks to achieve design excellence.

Moylan, who is based at the firm’s Washington, DC office, joined SmithGroupJJR in 2008, serving most recently as Principal in the Workplace Studio. He has over two decades of experience in interior architectural design and project management. A firm principal, his depth of experience includes corporate interiors, associations, and non-profit clients for whom he delivers an intelligent, creative, and sustainable approach to design. He has led high-profile projects for major companies including The World Bank, Deloitte, Graham Holdings, Noblis, as well as government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of State. Among his most recent work is a 475,000-square-foot, LEED Platinum headquarters for Exelon Corporation in Baltimore, for which he designed a highly flexible space that includes a 70,000-square-foot trading floor, mixture of open and closed offices, conference center, and an executive floor. Moylan also served as lead designer and project manager for SmithGroupJJR’s new Washington, DC office. The LEED Platinum office accommodates today’s more mobile and collaborative work styles while reflecting the firm’s brand and culture. Projects designed by Moylan are regularly honored by various design competitions such as Interior Design Best of the Year, various AIA chapter programs, and CoreNet. He recently served as Vice President on the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Board of Directors. Moylan is a graduate of the Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Architecture.

Moylan is a resident of Bethesda, Maryland.
