WallGoldfinger Welcomes New Controller
Experienced Certified Public Accountant Kelly Wood of Moretown has joined Randolph corporate furniture manufacturer WallGoldfinger as its controller.
Wood, who grew up across the street from the Moretown house she now calls home, initially pursued a career in health care, studying physical therapy before switching to a radiation therapy degree, which she earned from the University of Vermont in 1980. She went on to work in the field at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington until her own father became a patient and passed away from lung cancer.
Looking for a change, she moved west and took a job as a switchboard operator at Snowbird ski resort in Utah. Next door to the switchboard was the central cash office and soon Wood found herself working in – and liking – accounting.
She and husband, Jack, returned to Vermont in 1989 and, after years of doing accounting, Wood went back to school and earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Champlain College in Burlington in 1994.
She went on to work in accounting positions at a host of Vermont businesses and organizations, including Gallagher, Flynn & Company in Burlington, Vermont Information Processing Inc. in Colchester where she was a controller, King Arthur Flour Company in Norwich where she was also as a controller, American Flatbread in Waitsfield, Back to Action Physical Therapy in Waitsfield, Bookkeeping Inc. in Waitsfield, Zutano in Cabot and Salvador and Babic in Barre. Most recently she worked as a senior accountant at Washington County Mental Health in Barre.
She joins WallGoldfinger in part for her love of the company’s products.
“First of all,” she says, “I love wood, and not even just because my last name is Wood.”
Her husband was a woodworker by trade and now by hobby, building handcrafted canoes and kayaks. Interesting pieces of wood also decorate the walls of the couple’s home.
And she likes manufacturing. “I’ve always been my happiest at places that create a product,” she says.

Wood hopes her experience helps refine and improve internal systems at the company, such as through providing data that makes various departments jobs easier and creates efficiencies.
“I’m very excited,” she says after just a couple of weeks at the company renowned for its supportive work atmosphere and high-end furniture. “I’m loving it.”
When not at her new job, Wood enjoys quilting and spending time with family, including her “daughter by choice” Jessie Kingsley, who next week earns the rank of major in the U.S. Army.
