Save A Sample! Announces 2016 National Sponsors

Save A Sample

SpecSimple.com’s Save A Sample! welcomes back Wilsonart (Platinum) and Formica® Brand (Gold) as returning national sponsors.

Arborite, Wilsonart’s Canadian sister company, joins our national sponsorship team at the Platinum level as we launch Save A Sample! Canada.

Joining Save A Sample! for the first time as our Platinum Sponsor, Arborite Marketing Manager Teresa Gentile noted, “Arborite and Wilsonart, as companies on the cutting edge of design, are constantly producing fresh collections and sending out new samples. Through Save a Sample!, we are able to ensure that outdated materials go to a good home, exposing design students to these fantastic products as well as reducing waste and unused material.”

“This is our fifth consecutive year supporting Save a Sample!, and we couldn’t be more excited to see its continual growth,” affirms Mark Kieckhafer, Director, Specification Sales, Wilsonart. “Minimizing our eco-footprint and providing support for the future of the A&D community are two causes we’re passionate about, and love seeing both come together so seamlessly through this program.”

“Formica® Brand is proud of our ongoing partnership with Save a Sample! and our shared commitment to keeping obsolete samples out of landfills. The program is a great win for the environment and for everyone involved – manufacturer’s, architecture and design firms and students,” declares Amy Gath, Vice President of Marketing at Formica® Brand .

“With the support of our valued partners, Save A Sample! 2016 is exploding with new events,” declares Suzanne Swift, Save A Sample!’s Founder and President of SpecSimple.com. Instead of filling up landfills, designers in San Diego, Phoenix and three Canadian cities can now give their old samples a 2nd life with eager and grateful design students. “These newcomers join our existing events…for a total of 14 cities in all!”

In 2015, 24 design schools participated in Save A Sample!. “The students loved the samples we got. Almost every box was empty in 3 hours and completely gone by the next day,” marveled Susan McNeil from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. “Save A Sample! is an amazing recycling program and our students really appreciate being part of it! ”

Nationwide, design firms boxed up 16 tons of samples. “As an interior design graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia, when it was time to assemble a design board with samples, our sample room had materials which were hopelessly dated. As a design professional, I was keenly aware of this every time I had to update samples or a sample book. I was elated to find Save A Sample!,” enthused Anna Maria Vona, a designer at Carmana Designs, in Philadelphia. “It is a win-win-win for everyone…. the samples leave my office to make room for new ones, students can use current samples for their design boards and the best….. everything stays out of a landfill!”

Save A Sample! 2016 takes place April 5-7 in 11 cities throughout the United States (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington DC and Wilmington DE). School sign up runs through January 23rd. Furniture dealer sign up begins November 2rd and design firm registration starts January 4th.
