Interior Photography: The Basics Workshop

DATE: Tuesday, July 19
TIME: 12:30PM to 5PM
LOCATION: New York Design Center,Conference Room
ADDRESS: 200 Lexington Avenue, NYC

Ever complete a project but neglect to have it photographed—either because you didn’t have the funds or the time to find and coordinate a pro photog? We don’t have to tell you that capturing beautiful images of your work is necessary, but we can tell you that it’s doable…for every project. Sure, sometimes it’s important to call in the pros. But there are other cases where your own photography can suffice…if you have the right training, that is.

Professional interior and architectural photographer Brett Beyer will teach you how to navigate your way around a camera, approach lighting and compose a winning shot that you’ll actually be proud to share with the world (read: potential clients and editors).

In this class, you will learn:

  • The basic camera controls (ISO, F-Stop and Shutter Speed) and how they work together to create a compelling interior photograph
  • How to use ambient light and work with natural light for the best results
  • What types of shots are easiest for beginners to capture
  • How to create a set of images that epitomize the space and tell a compelling design story

By the end of class, you will have a better understanding of:

  • How to use the basic settings on your camera
  • How to represent your brand through photographs
  • Options for image editing software
  • How to decide when to work with professional retouchers

Please note: This is a hands-on class, so it is important that you bring a fully-charged camera, a memory card, your camera manual and a tripod. If you don’t have a tripod, please let us know and we will arrange to have one for you. Wear comfortable shoes. Prior to class, familiarize yourself with how to access the controls for Shutter Speed, ISO, Aperture, and White Balance. If you don’t have your camera manual, you can usually find it online.
