New American Society of Interior Designer’s Headquarters Boasts State-of-the-Art Materials Library
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is pleased to announce and welcome the American Chemistry Council (ACC) as the Founding Sponsor of the Material ConneXion library housed within the newly opened ASID Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Society welcomes the involvement of ACC as it showcases the impact of design materials on the human experience.
The ASID Material ConneXion library features samples of innovative materials and products which contribute to health and wellness in the built environment. The collection is segmented into in eight categories, including polymers, process, naturals, metals, carbon-based, cement-based, ceramics, and glass, and is intended to assist design professionals in selecting and specifying materials for future projects.
ACC represents the leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry, a $797 billion enterprise and a key element of the nation’s economy. ACC member companies apply the science of chemistry to develop innovative products and services that make people’s lives better, healthier, and safer. Chemical ingredients provide benefits that contribute to the safety, durability, energy-efficiency, and attractiveness of buildings today.
“The products of chemistry enable countless innovations in buildings, from insulation that reduces air leaks and heat transfer, to flexible and leak-resistant piping, to ‘smart’ windows that help keep buildings cool in the summer and warm in the winter,” said ACC Vice President Debra Phillips. “ACC is proud to work with ASID and Material ConneXion to showcase the products that make advances in health and wellness in the built environment possible.”
As Founding Sponsor, ACC’s sponsorship made it possible for ASID to install the Material ConneXion library in the new ASID offices. Headquartered in New York, Material ConneXion maintains the world’s largest subscription-based materials library featuring more than 8,000 innovative materials and processes across all disciplines of design – the ASID library in Washington, D.C., will showcase 300 of the materials.
To introduce the Material ConneXion library to the design community and public, ASID will host an open house on October 18, 2016, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Society’s headquarters at 1152 15th Street, N.W., Suite 910, Washington, D.C. 20005. RSVP to attend the event no later than October 13, 2016.
“ASID is a Society that thrives and advances through partnerships with like-minded organizations who believe that design has the power to transform lives,” said ASID CEO Randy Fiser. “ASID is honored to welcome the American Chemistry Council as the Founding Sponsor of our new Materials ConneXion library. ACC’s contribution will enable ASID to assist interior designers in specifying the latest, most advanced materials that support health and wellness in their projects.”

We thrive on the strength of cross-functional and interdisciplinary relationships among designers of all specialties, including workplace, healthcare, retail and hospitality, education, institutional, and residential. We lead interior designers in shared conversations around topics that matter: from evidence-based and humancentric design to social responsibility, well-being, and sustainability. We showcase the impact of design on the human experience and the value interior designers provide.
ASID was founded over 40 years ago when two organizations became one, but its legacy dates back to the early 1930s. As we celebrate nearly 85 years of industry leadership, we are leading the future of interior design, continuing to integrate the advantages of local connections with national reach, of small firms with big, and of the places we live with the places we work, play, and heal.
