Dyer Brown Designer Talks Standards for Healthy, Green Workplaces (NeoCon East, IFMA World Workplace)

Evidence shows that healthy, sustainable workplaces are also the most productive and attractive. To leverage high-performance office designs, certification standards like LEED, FitWel and the WELL Building Standard are essential — yet still a source of confusion and challenge for stakeholders.

In the coming weeks Jen Taylor, a Senior Project Manager with architecture-and-interiors leader Dyer Brown, will share critical perspectives on achieving top certifications at two major events: the interiors-focused NeoCon East, and the facility management conference IFMA World Workplace.

Dyer Brown’s Taylor, joined by colleagues from the engineering firm Arup, Mark Walsh-Cooke, PE and Rebecca Hatchadorian, will discuss their work on Arup’s recently completed Boston office—now certified under WELL Gold and designed to the new and challenging LEED v4 standards. The team will make the case for multiple certifications under LEED, Fitwel and WELL, which offer compelling benefits to any workplace client, their employees, and their bottom line.

In the presentations, the project team describes how the multiple certifications went from an ambitious goal to reality achieved within a budget and construction timeline comparable to many non-certified workplace projects of similar scope. More impressive, the team addresses how to deal with older buildings, which create additional roadblocks to certification.

“Our primary goal is to share how any project team can use careful research and planning to achieving multiple certifications, which offer effective paths to high-performance workplaces and more effective organizations,” says Taylor, who penned a blog on the subject of WELL certification.
