2023 Interior Design Show reveals Miele and Caesarstone features, in addition to keynote announcements

The 2023 Interior Design Show (IDS23) gears up to showcase the latest and greatest in design, revealing interactive features from design industry veterans Miele and Caesarstone. IDS23 also adds to its lineup of keynote speakers, revealing a new panel discussion and conversations taking place on the show’s trade days. IDS23 will introduce another stage with additional programming presented by GRAY Magazine in collaboration with the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC). Miele

IDS23 official Presenting Sponsor Miele will be showcasing its best pieces that represent this year’s theme, putting its sustainability practices at the forefront. As climate protection will be at the core of this year’s event, Miele remains keen on the news technologies and features that aims to protect the environment and support consumers in living responsibly.

Miele will be proudly representing this year’s show theme through an interactive ‘Sustainability Alley’. The presentation will demonstrate Miele’s dedication to expanding environmental and climate protection through all areas of its business. Visitors will also discover ways to maintain a sustainable lifestyle that is economical while, at the same time, reducing their environmental footprint.

Caesarstone

Caesarstone

Caesarstone will debut the launch of its multi-material surfaces portfolio at IDS23, introducing Porcelain and Natural Stone to its Quartz and Outdoor Quartz portfolio. The expanded portfolio of more than 100 colors tastefully combines the company’s innovative technology with its powerful design passion, empowering consumers to design with freedom.

The new additions to the portfolio will be on display at the Caesarstone installation entitled JUXTAPOSED, designed by Brian Brown Studio, to highlight the beauty and diversity of the company’s expanded offerings in a warm and welcoming manner. “We really want to show off Caesarstone’s expertise with multiple materials,” said Brown. “We used all of the different textures and colors to create a truly dynamic design, one that celebrates the diversity of options available. The juxtaposition of the materials creates an interesting design effect while allowing viewers to easily compare and contrast the offerings.”

The Caesarstone showcase will be located at booth 848.

Keynote Announcements

The Future of Toronto: The Next 5 Years – Pooya Baktash (Partisans and Serotiny), Sabine Grimes (Unison Group Inc), Zahra Ebrahim (Monumental) and Alex Bozikovic (The Globe and Mail).

This engaging panel of speakers will discuss what they feel the city of Toronto and Toronto’s design landscape needs in the next five years. This includes opinions and critical commentary on proposed projects, planning and bylaws, infrastructure, and community planning. How can design improve or solve some of the challenges the city is facing? The panelists will be sharing their knowledge and thought provoking ideas on their vision of a free minded future.

Claire Weisz

In Conversation with Claire Weisz

Claire Weisz FAIA is a founding partner of WXY, whose work as an architect and urbanist focuses on innovative approaches to public space, structures, and cities. Her firm, WXY, is globally recognized for its place-based approach to architecture, urban design, and planning, and has played a vital role in design thinking around resiliency. Among its award-winning projects are the SeaGlass Carousel and the Spring Street Garage / Salt Shed. In 2019 Fast Company named WXY one of the World’s Most Innovative Architecture Firms. Claire was awarded the Medal of Honor from AIANY and was honored with the Women in Architecture Award by Architectural Record as an Innovator. She is the Yale School of Architecture Bass Teaching Fellow 2022 and serves on the New York Cities Sustainability Advisory Board.

In Conversation with Todd Bracher

Join acclaimed industrial designer Todd Bracher for an engaging keynote presentation on Dezeen Trade Day at IDS Toronto.

Bracher will be in conversation with Dezeen’s US editor Ben Dreith as they explore Todd’s design ethos and key designs in his career as Creative Director for Humanscale. Bracher’s strategic approach to design helps Humanscale leverage their unique assets to achieve market growth, increase revenue, elevate brand engagement, and update product portfolios for a contemporary audience. His work strikes a rigorous balance between science, wellness and contemporary culture. Todd is a veteran in the industry with over 22 years of experience in the international design scene. His studio, founded in Milan in 1999 and now based in New York City, draws upon the international experience and network Todd built over two decades of living, working, and teaching in New York, Copenhagen, Milan, London and Paris.

Natural Material Studio – Bonnie Hvillum in conversation with Elizabeth Pagliacolo of AZURE Magazine.

Natural Material Studio is a Copenhagen-based design, research and consultancy practice founded in 2018. Through a material- led approach centered around the properties and qualities of often discarded or under-utilized natural resources, Natural Material Studio explores material limitations and opportunities in order to create novel design solutions.

Ian Rolston

Dismantling Design – Ian Rolston in conversation with Elizabeth Pagliacolo of AZURE Magazine.

Join Ian Rolston, the founder of Decanthropy, for an engaging keynote presentation on Dismantling Design. Decanthropy is an equity innovation studio engineering change for brands, businesses and built environments. The studio develops and executes human-centered strategies to solve the right problems at the right time. The studio works with executive leadership teams to shift thinking, to establish strategies that embed structural equity throughout organizations and projects.

The Gray Stage

GRAY Stage with ARIDO and IDC

West Coast multi-disciplinary design media experts GRAY Magazine have collaborated with ARIDO and IDC for the stage design and programming. Guests will have access to The Gray Stage for the entire duration of the show and are invited to listen in on talks with designers and visionaries about the 21st century global design paradigm shift and the significance that design has on the future. BALANCE by Christina Sideris

Christina Sideris presents BALANCE: an immersive art installation exploring the pursuit of happiness. Visitors will enter a tunnel created with dramatic, large-scale photographic art pieces displayed on custom-made, illuminated boxes. This new biophilic system has been scientifically documented to increase productivity and creativity, and improve mood.
