In Memorium: Helmut Jahn: 1940 -2021

Helmut Jahn was killed in a bicycle/car accident on May 8 in the suburban Campton Hills, near his home and horse farm in St. Charles, IL, about 40 miles west of Chicago. He was 81. Mr. Jahn was born Jan. 4, 1940 in Zirndorf, near Nuremberg, Germany, and grew up watching the reconstruction of the city, which had been largely destroyed by Allied bombing campaigns. He studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich 1960-65 and moved to Chicago in 1966 to further his studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology.  Upon completion of his Master’s Degree in Architecture in 1967 he was hired by Gene Summers at C.
