Yorgo Lykouria Joins HOK Product Design as Creative Director in Europe
HOK Product Design announced today that Yorgo Lykouria has joined the firm as creative director in Europe. Lykouria brings more than 20 years of experience in industrial design and architecture to HOK Product Design’s new studio in London.
Lykouria spent 10 years in Chicago as a designer in Helmut Jahn’s practice, working on acclaimed international projects such as the Sony Center in Berlin, Terminal 2 at Cologne Bonn Airport and the Deutsche Post Tower in Bonn before establishing his eponymous London studio, Lykouria, in 2002. Since joining HOK Product Design, Lykouria has worked with manufacturers including Scavolini, Glen Raven/Trivantage and Koleksiyon on a wide range of products. He previously worked with Ferrari, Alape, Dornbracht, Classicon Akaba and Vitra.
Pan-cultural influences inform Lykouria’s work and drive his fascination with how people engage with their environments. Lykouria, who takes a humanistic approach to design, is concerned not just with giving form to a product, but also with reintroducing moments of conscious reflection and enjoyment into everyday life. Simon Keane-Cowell, Architonic magazine’s head of editorial, once wrote about Lykouria that, “For him, it’s about reintroducing moments of conscious reflection, of pleasure and awe into everyday life, turning the mundane and the prosaic into poetry.”

Lykouria received his Master of Architecture degree from DalTech University in Nova Scotia, Halifax, in 1991 and worked in Berlin and Barcelona in his early years. His work has earned numerous honors, including AIT Awards for Innovation, the Red Dot Award and the iF Product Design Award.
