World Interiors Day – A Global Call To Action
You are receiving this message because you believe in the power of Interior Architecture / Design. Designed environments are essential because they shape how people people learn, reflect, interact, imagine and create. Interior Architecture / Design gives expression, meaning and value to the spaces that support all of human activity. This is a powerful and an essential design discipline supported by a massive related industry.
As experts engaged with the professional world community responsible for excellence of place making, this is something we all know deeply but don’t share as much with the world at large. This is why World Interiors Day (WID) is vital to our profession and your participation is the key to its success.
As you know, WID is an annual global event initiated by IFI to highlight Interior Architecture / Design and related expertise. WID is a unique possibility to engage with, plan and share openly with your community, city and country by actively demonstrating the merits and impact of designed spaces and how they impact the quality of our everyday life – regardless of gender, generation, race, practice, culture or condition. In less than 15 years of its existence WID has continued to grow and expand, becoming the preeminent celebration of Interiors that it is today.
With the theme of “Interiors Intelligence”, WID 2016 took place throughout the globe with markedly rich and diverse activities. The outcome was wonderful and for all of this, while we congratulate and thank you, we also know that we can do more, bigger and better.
Fast approaching 2017, and to avoid losing momentum, at IFI we are already hard at work for the next edition of WID. Celebrating “Interior Design for Generations“, WID 2017 will be observed during the entire month of May, with the official day designated as Saturday May 27.
As life expectancy continues to rise and there are wider age ranges, what does it mean to design for generations? Do our Interiors belong to a specific time and place? What happens when we add the generational factor to the equation?
It is our ambition that the next edition will be greater than ever before, but for this we need your help. WID is the worldwide event that allows us to spotlight Interior Architecture / Design as an essential and fundamental profession. It is time to open the doors of the Interiors design disciplines to everyone. For this, there is no other celebration like it. It is our Mother’s Day, our Birthday, our National Day, all rolled into one. This is why I ask you to seize it, make it your own and join us as we celebrate the power of Interiors around the globe!
