Modern Automotive Design Influences Make for a Polished Appearance

Wilkhahn, the German office manufacturer world renowned for innovative design, is proud to introduce Metrik, its new cantilever chair. With organic curves, surfaces and rounded edges integrated into one body, Metrik’s unique sculptural shape and contours are reminiscent of modern automotive design.

Metrik creates a polished appearance with its monolithic look. The seat thickness also varies to achieve the ideal combination of flexibility and strength while maintaining a lightweight design. The chair’s lines, volume and precisely defined surfaces form a distinctive shape that integrates the armrests, and these fluid lines merge with the tubular steel frame. As a result, the ergonomically shaped, elastic plastic body combined with the advantages of a sprung tubular steel frame creates an aesthetically appealing concept.

The design’s mix of curves, surfaces and edges establishes a striking presentation, while the inside of the chair offers excellent comfort with its integrated seat cushion and extra cushioning at the back. In addition, the integrated seat cushion is breathable and the slight curve of the backrest provides lumbar support for overall comfort. The back cushioning creates a soft center, making the spacious seat feel like an armchair. Along with its aesthetic appeal and enhanced comfort, the design also offers a diverse selection of textures and colors for the seat cushion. The through-dyed polyamide seat sections and frames are available in a total of six colors, which can also be combined with a bright chrome-plated frame.

The design’s unique appearance opens a new chapter for cantilever chairs. With its multitude of colors and distinct yet understated concept and cost-effective quality, the piece is optimal for a range of uses and office settings. Metrik is an ideal companion for the IN office chair, and the design can function as a colorful multi-purpose chair in co-working environments, a stackable seminar chair, or a practical and aesthetically appealing addition to any workplace café.
