Tables and seating simulate the popular design of live edge wide plank furniture with charming realism and coordinate with the brand’s award winning biophilia-inspired Nature View Collection.

Acclaimed children’s furniture brand Whitney Brothers® on Mar. 21 introduced the Live Edge collection, a new line of tables and seating for Early Learning environments inspired by the popularity of live edge wide plank furniture.

The range of items in the Live Edge collection includes square, rectangle and circle tables in 18-, 20- and 22-inch height; single chairs and wide benches in 10-, 12-, and 14-inch seat height; and long and short log benches in 10-, 12-, and 14-inch seat height.

Each Live Edge piece features a unique design infused with character and realism that intentionally draws the attention of children and fundamentally changes how they engage a space. Furniture with a live edge reveals the history of a tree and can help teach children about its growth lines, seasonal patterns and stress points. Knots, twists, and other natural imperfections in the wood add rich visual interest that tells a story about the tree and celebrates its unique character. Another feature: Children will discover other nature surprises in the bark on each Whitney Brothers® Live Edge piece.

The Live Edge design transforms a common table, chair or bench into an important contributor to the look, feel and appeal of an Early Learning environment. The items also coordinates seamlessly with all other pieces in the company’s award winning biophilia-inspired Nature View Collection, an industry first in Early Learning furniture.

Scientific studies support that biophilic design helps to reduce stress, enhance creativity, focus clarity of thought and improve well-being, benefits that can foster a child’s deep connection to their learning environment and set a positive trajectory for future learning outcomes. The Nature View Collection by Whitney Brothers® now encompasses 71 separate furniture pieces that have earned multiple design awards from Interior Design magazine, Spaces4Learning, GOOD DESIGN™, Architizer A+ and Teacher’s Choice Award.

“Our Live Edge collection is absolutely on-trend in the furniture market and broadens the scope of our biophilic Nature View Collection,” said Mike Jablonski, president of Whitney Brothers®. “The motif transforms ordinary classroom furniture pieces into important contributors to the appeal of a young child’s learning environment. It’s another great example of the fresh design thinking that best distinguishes the Whitney Brothers® brand.”

Availability of the Live Edge collection is immediate through authorized Whitney Brothers® dealers and distributors worldwide.
