Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced the firm’s Chief Executive Officer Lawrence R. Armstrong, who is also an accomplished artist, is receiving the 2019 ATIM Masters Award from ArtTour International Magazine. This is the second time Armstrong will be honored with this award, which will be presented next year at the 6th annual ATIM Masters Awards ceremony held at the Museum of Arts & Design in New York. This highly anticipated annual awards ceremony is the flagship event of ArtTour International Magazine and draws artists and art aficionados from around the world.
Armstrong also announced his artwork will be featured in two notable art exhibitions: the Hamptons Art Fair in New York from July 5-8, 2018 and the ArtBlend Gallery Spring Art Exhibit in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. going on now through July 27, 2018.
“It is an honor to once again receive this prestigious award from ArtTour International Magazine,” said Armstrong. “I’m also excited for the opportunity to showcase my work at the Hamptons Art Fair and ArtBlend Gallery alongside so many wonderful artists.”
Armstrong’s work has appeared in numerous high profile international art exhibitions and galleries over the past year. These recent showings include: New York ArtExpo in New York City; Rio Gallery in New York City; Art Comes Alive in New York City; Spectrum Miami; Scope Miami; Art San Diego; New York Affordable Art Fair; Amsterdam Whitney Gallery’s Roaring 1920’s in New York City; Market Art + Design in Bridgehampton, NY; Steiner Gallery in Vienna, Austria; and Le Sm’Art Art Fair Parc Jourdan in Aix En Provence, France.
“I have always believed my work as an artist inspires my work as an architect, and vice versa,” continued Armstrong. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue both of these passions in my professional and personal life.”
Armstrong’s paintings and sculptures represent an ongoing exploration of the concept of layers: both how they interact and intersect with one another, and also the meanings contained within. For Armstrong, layers are to be found everywhere: in space and time, in intellect, in emotion, and in the synthesis and interpretation of form. Whether two- or three-dimensional in scope, the artwork that results is almost multisensory in nature, eliciting from the viewer a multifaceted experience of the wondrous complexity that ultimately composes our world. A piece of artwork is often precipitated by flashes of light and inspiration derived from anything from written text to music to a particular event. Regardless of its origins, through his art Armstrong explores the natural tension inherent in opposing forces, whether it’s the natural world versus built environments, or other paradigms such as chaos/order, free form/precision, random/planned action, and solid/void.
Armstrong has received numerous individual awards for personal art and design, including: the Sandro Botticelli Prize in Florence, Italy, Artavita 9th & 10th Contests, ATIM Masters Award, ATIM Choice Award, AIA Honor Award, OC Design Community Art Exhibition, Terminal Tower Design Competition Award, Shaker Square Circle within a Square Design Competition, and Cleveland Award.
