USG Commits Wallboard Products To Architecture 2030 Challenge

USG Corporation, a leading building products company, is pleased to announce that it has joined the Architecture 2030 Challenge for Products for USG’s wallboard portfolio. Architecture 2030 is a non-profit organization whose mission is to rapidly transform the built environment from a major contributor of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to a central part of the solution to the climate and energy crises. USG Corporation is the first manufacturer to join the 2030 Challenge for Products for wallboard products.

“USG is committed to lowering our environmental footprint by improving the sustainability of our products and manufacturing processes,” said Al Zucco, senior director, Sustainability and Energy, USG. “We’re extremely proud to lead our industry as the first manufacturer to adopt the 2030 Challenge for Products for wallboard products.”

“USG has been a valued partner in the 2030 Challenge since adopting it for their ceiling products in 2013,” said Edward Mazria, CEO and founder of Architecture 2030. “I applaud their continued commitment to low-carbon products and practices.”

The 2030 Challenge for Products calls on the global architecture, planning, design, and building community to design with and specify products manufactured with a carbon footprint 35 percent below the product average, incrementally increasing the reduction to 50 percent by 2030.
