Tina Barnard

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the Anna Hernandez/Luna Textiles Education Fund Award. Tina Barnard, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, founder and owner of Tina Barnard Designs received the inaugural award for her professional success and fearless leadership. Barnard will formally accept the award during the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York on May 23, 2018.

Prior to her passing in 2016, Anna Hernandez was the founder and president of Luna Textiles and was known for advancing and celebrating the work of women in the interior design industry. This award was founded to honor her contributions to the profession.

“Women in the workplace continue to advocate for themselves and one another, and I feel immensely honored to be able to recognize Tina Barnard as one of the incredible women who pave the way for female interior and product design visionaries,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA,LEED AP. “Anna’s memory will live on through this prestigious award.”

The recipient of the Anna Hernandez/Luna Textiles Education Fund Award will receive $5,000 on behalf of the IIDA Foundation, which will be matched by ICFF with funds acquired through a silent auction during the tradeshow.

Entries were reviewed by a committee of interior design industry professionals, including Jennifer Busch, Hon. IIDA, vice president A&D at Teknion; Karen Donaghy, publisher, Contract magazine; and Felice Silverman, FIIDA, principal at Silverman Trykowski Associates.

“We were pleased to see so many strong submissions from female business owners,” said Busch, on behalf of the committee. “It’s both encouraging and exciting to see the tenacity and drive that these trailblazing women embody within the industry and society at large.”

The IIDA Foundation is grateful to Contract magazine for serving as a media partner for this program. For more information or questions, contact Aisha Williams at awilliams@iida.org.
