Teknion Reception and Emote Recognized with Good Design Awards
PREVIEWED AT NEOCON 2019, TEKNION RECEPTION DESK PROGRAM AND EMOTE PRIVATE OFFICE EARN GOOD DESIGN AWARDS IN INTERNATIONAL “BEST OF THE BEST” COMPETITION
Teknion Corporation announced Feb. 11 that a pair of its new workplace products – the Emote Private Office and Teknion Reception Desk Program − received Good Design Awards in the 2019 international competition. Teknion Reception and Emote were winners in the Furniture category. The award program is organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
“It’s an honor for Teknion to once again be recognized with Good Design Awards,” said Joe Regan, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, Corporate Marketing and Design. “Congratulations to Emote designer and long-time collaborator Mario Ruiz, and to our own in-house design studio that created Teknion Reception.”
As the function of reception desks and the act of receiving guests evolves, so do reception needs of different businesses. A reception desk can function as the boundary of public to private space, providing security and privacy. In other applications, reception space is a communal shared experience and may not require a traditional desk. In any scenario involving greeting people, creating a positive first impression is as important as ever.
Teknion Reception takes an innovative design approach − from classic to communal − in addressing these evolving requirements, while addressing how public and private spaces are blending. To encourage customization, the program offers five distinct starting points of unique desks, a communal bar and storage console, and classic desk with L return.
Emote Private Office
Emote transforms the private office into the creative office. Components offer a new take on traditional private office furniture. Small in scale, Thought Boards that are both functional and artistically expressive are offered in fabric, back-painted glass and wood finishes. The Work Cabinet is a unique alternative to a height-adjustable table, encouraging individuals to move within the space and change posture. The cabinet is elevated by a base and has an extendable worksurface above its storage to allow a laptop to be plugged in while working comfortably in a standing position. Desk options include height-adjustable base or with solid wood legs. Personal Desk Accessories organize and store objects, and include trays with integrated power.
Emote transforms the private office into the creative office. This collection of distinct furniture elements brings an expressive quality to the workspace through a palette of new paint colors applied to wood that provides nearly endless combinations of finish options. Lighter in scale and well-suited to today’s smaller spaces, Emote is simple, easy to understand and puts the user in control of their space.
Studio TK’s Freehand & Havn Earn Good Design Awards
Freehand Occasional Tables by PearsonLloyd and Havn Seating Collection by Busk+Hertzog earn Good Design Awards
Studio TK announced Feb. 11 that its new Freehand Occasional Tables offering and Havn Seating Collection both received 2019 Good Design Awards in the Furniture category. Freehand’s modular nature, variety of shape and size options, and wide range of finishes allow the table line to maximize any space. Havn provides a versatile retreat for a work culture that is becoming increasingly collaborative and mobile. Good Design is organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
“We are honored that our new Freehand Occasional Tables and Havn Seating collections have been recognized by the Good Design jury as being among the best and most outstanding 2019 design products across the globe,” said Charlie Bell, President, Studio TK. “We are proud to share these awards with Freehand designers Tom Lloyd and Luke Pearson, and with Havn designers Flemming Busk and Stephan Hertzog.”
Freehand Occasional Tables
Freehand is a multi-purpose occasional table system designed for commercial interiors of any kind, including lobbies, offices, retail settings and more. Its modular nature and variety of shape and size options allow it to fit any space, serving as a side table or coffee table depending on the layout of the area it occupies. Freehand’s wide range of potential finish combinations yields a product that allows ample expression in commercial interiors.
Havn Seating Collection
Havn is a Scandinavian-inspired seating collection comprising a winged lounge chair and settee. Havn addresses the demand for increased flexibility in today’s workplace. Low-back settees and lounges provide a comfortable area for socializing, collaborative work, or casual interviews, while high-back offerings block distractions for employees as they work on tasks that require a great deal of focus. The high-back settee also serves as an excellent alternative to conference rooms for two-person meetings.
In addition to Havn and Freehand, many other Studio TK products have been recognized with Good Design awards over the years, including the Borough Modular Lounge collection, Cesto Seating and Tables collection, Dual Lounge, Qui Seating and Surfaces, and Infinito + Masalla Lounge Seating and Tables.
