Experienced in primarily the hospitality industry, Tami Smith of Rochester has joined WallGoldfinger as its office manager – a critical role that greets callers and visitors and works with all departments to provide coordination and support.
Based in Randolph, Vt., WallGoldfinger creates high-end custom corporate furniture and reconfigurable table lines for leading businesses, organizations and government agencies around the world.
A native of Waddington, N.Y., Smith attended Paul Smith College, earning her associate’s degree in hospitality in 1993. She went on to spend eight years in the U.S. Army and then upon returning to New York joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Watertown, N.Y.
Since she’s worked in Florida, New York and Vermont in a variety of roles, including front office manager and assistant general manager at three different hotels, as office manager of a newspaper and most recently as executive director of the Quin-Town Senior Center in Hancock, Vt.
Love brought her to Vermont. She reunited with her college sweetheart, Noel Smith of Rochester, Vt., and in 2011 made the move to first Vergennes and then Rochester, Vt. They married a year later.
She joined WallGoldfinger in September in a complex role that involves diverse administrative tasks, supporting the project management team and interacting with WallGoldfinger’s sales representatives and clients around the country.
“I love it. I’m picking tasks up quickly. I feel comfortable and wanted here,” said Smith of her new role and employer.
Smith has been impressed with her helpful new co-workers who are showing her the ropes, the positive work atmosphere and the quality of furniture produced by the company.
In her free time, Smith is a wife and mother of two, including 21-year-old Kristin Pike and 18-year-old Ashli Pike, as well as an 11-year-old stepson, Jack.
