Designed by KieranTimberlake and engineered by BuroHappold, the 80,000-square-foot Engineering Research Center at Brown University includes a high-tech nanotechnology lab with a clean room, an advanced imaging lab, and research and teaching laboratories.
Located in the historic School of Journalism at Columbia University, the 4,600-square-foot Brown Institute for Media and Innovation is a unique academic experiment devoted to the co-evolution of journalism and technology.

As new instructional tech and online learning upend university academics, how should classrooms and labs change in response? That’s the main topic at a May 22 panel discussion hosted by BuroHappold in New York City.

Moderated by The Chronicle of Higher Education editor Sara Lipka, a panel of multidisciplinary experts discuss how academic facilities and social spaces are radically mutating to reflect modern college needs. According to Tim Christ, AIA, a BuroHappold principal, “These practitioners and observers will share the latest ideas on catalysts for change in higher education, transformational design approaches, and lessons for future academic and instructional designs.”

Join BuroHappold and a panel of experts on Wednesday, May 22, when we convene a panel of practitioners and observers including an architect, institutional advisor, university administrator and journalist to hear their thoughts on this critical topic.
