Sydness Architects, a New York City-based full service architectural firm, is pleased to announce that Matthew Ruopoli has been elevated from Project Manager to Associate.
Ruopoli joined Sydness Architects in 2015 and has managed a wide variety of projects including corporate offices, retail spaces, and cultural institutions. His portfolio also includes several complex restorations and building repositioning projects, which dovetail nicely with Sydness Architects’ commitment to sustainable design.
“Matt’s many strengths include a great design sense and a critical technical eye which serve him well in our varied practice,” said Jeff Sydness, Founding Principal, “We are so pleased to have him as part of the firm leadership and look forward to his continued growth and responsibilities.”
In his new role, Ruopoli will be more deeply involved in design decisions on the firm’s behalf. Ruopoli’s unique background includes the study of the psychological and physiological effects of design, which allows him to maintain a laser focus on the end user, considering occupant interaction on both large and small scales. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to drive the direction of a project’s design by investigating the ‘why’ and ‘what’ behind them,” he said.
The elevation will also expand Ruopoli’s involvement in business development and staff management. “Our design first mentality allows Sydness Architects to function as a think tank, where each team member, from intern to principal, has the opportunity to provide ideas,” says Ruopoli. “I’m happy to continue to encourage this conversation and promote fluidity between project teams to ensure all staff have the opportunity to to their best work.”
Ruopoli is a member of the AIA, is NCARB certified, a USGBC Green Associate, and a Construction Specifications Institute Emerging Professional.
