Stickbulb Launches Exclusive Collaboration with The Future Perfect

The Future Perfect is presenting a special installation of the exclusive lighting series, Boom, designed by RUX, in their private gallery space. The Future Perfect is proud to announce the addition of the collection by RUX to their ever growing roster of emerging talent.

Inspired by long, linear wooden cut-offs in their workshop, the RUX design team developed a modular system of LED lights deeply rooted in sustainability and the idea of “creation from destruction.”

As a starting point, they only considered designs with minimal parts that could be manufactured within a five mile radius of their Long Island City studio. They chose to use reclaimed and sustainably sourced woods as a primary building material, and sourced energy efficient LED technologies and components. A resulting collection of lighting, Boom, is a dramatic series that evokes the spectacle of an explosion.

“Written into the DNA of our designs is a tension between high-tolerance machine precision and wild, organic growth” says RUX founder and Creative Director Russell Greenberg. The fixtures achieve expressive forms by the use of minimalist elements: varying lengths of wood cantilever out from a cast brass core. The contrast of materials furthers the play with light, establishing a reflective core that the light seems to “explode” from.

The Boom collection is exclusively for The Future Perfect and includes Little Boom, Middle Boom, Big Boom, and the Double Boom. Each piece captures the moment of destruction of the building or water tower from which its wood comes.

Russell Greenberg is the Founder and Creative Director of NYC-based design studio RUX. Christopher Beardsley is RUX Managing Partner. They are long-time collaborators since their studio days at the Yale School of Architecture. Together they Co-Founded Stickbulb in 2012 to build with light.
