Pluck Receives Distinction for High Quality and Innovation in Renowned Product Design Competition
SONNEMAN—A Way of Light, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality architectural and decorative lighting, is excited to announce that the Pluck lamp collection is a winner in this year’s Red Dot Award program for Product Design. The Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions with strict criteria that bears testimony to SONNEMAN’s award-winning product design and quality.
“We are honored that Pluck was awarded in the Red Dot product design competition,” says Robert Sonneman, Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer at SONNEMAN—A Way of Light. “Our brand is dedicated to developing innovative and functional design, making it particularly exciting to be honored in such an internationally recognized and highly regarded awards program.”
This year designers and manufacturers from 55 countries entered with more than 5,500 total products in the competition. The international jury comprises experienced experts from different disciplines and has been convening for more than 60 years to select the year’s best designs. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation,” the jury’s assessment focuses on criteria such as the level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, longevity and ergonomics.
In keeping with the program’s theme, SONNEMAN’s Pluck collection, featuring both floor and wall lamps, boasts designs that exhibit freedom of movement, a clean aesthetic, and refined, flexible LED lighting to illuminate the surrounding space. The Pluck collection features a dramatically poised, lightly scaled silhouette with unexpected form that translates seamlessly into a variety of interiors. The lamps are composed with a crisp-edged, puck-like disc, which is held by a magnet to a rubberized ball at the end of a thin, flexible and stunning arc. With unique functionality at the heart of its design, the arc height adjustability allows Pluck to swing out for maximum extension or be folded against the wall. Pluck’s lamp lens demonstrates uncanny technological innovation through the incorporation of four layers of film diffusion, which includes a textured bottom layer that creates evenly-distributed and glare-free radiance.
The Pluck wall and floor lamps feature four-point touch activation to control the brightness of the LED light source, while a custom slide dimmer located on the puck’s top surface allows for additional lighting control. Pluck is available in two sizes and three finishes: Satin White, Bright Satin, Aluminum and Satin Black.
The Red Dot Awards competition was developed in the 1990s by Red Dot CEO, Professor Dr. Peter Zec. Since then, the sought-after Red Dot Award is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality.
