The ever-changing workplace has seen a rapid shift to the now ubiquitous open office layout with height adjustable tables and worksurfaces as small as four feet. “Old-fashioned” pedestals have since become obsolete as they take up too much room in a desk footprint and remain on the floor as desks rise. Scott Lesizza, founder of Slyde Charging Solutions and principal of Workwell Partners, recognized the vast majority of users utilized their peds for personal storage items and saw a void in the market for a cost-saving option that provided users storage, security and charging capabilities for personal devices at their individual workstations. Thus the idea to create a “personal storage drawer” that also serves as a charging station was born in the new Slyde™ Ped—a next-generation office solution that combines the capabilities of filing cabinets, desktop charging receptacles and docking stations in all-in-one, visually-appealing product.
Scott initially introduced the Slyde Charging Drawer to fill this workplace need, but went back to the drawing board to create a more sleekly designed product that still maintained functionality: “We realized early on that we needed to make a product that was more elegant than traditional peds to gain acceptance. The new Slyde™ Ped is sleek and minimal, and about 1/3 as bulky as a traditional pedestal.
